Music Talks: Revealing Interview with Rapper Schoolboy Q

image

In the newest installation of my YouTube music interview series “Music Talks”, we caught up with rapper Schoolboy Q on tour with ASAP Rocky this month in Boston.  The on-the-rise rapper, currently signed by Interscope Records, revealed incredibly personal details to us including his nastiest tweets, biggest regrets, and opinions on the future of rap music.

When asked about the future of “gangsta rap”, Q provided an incredible response;

“Gangsta rap is so dead and so weak … that’s cause those rappers aren’t trying to grow with the world.”

Burning Love: The Best Web Series Ever

image

For those of you who don’t know, I just finished working on the set of “Burning Love”, probably the smartest & funniest web series made to date.  The experience was incredible, and everyone on set was extremely nice and willing to show me how their job worked.  I imagine it to be better than film school would’ve been (I never went!).

We spent many weeks shooting seasons 2 and 3, which won’t be out until next year, but the first season is available to watch on Yahoo Screen.  I highly recommend you watch them all.

Facebook Commercial Parody Goes Viral, Flushes Original Down Toilet

image

In celebration of Facebook surpassing 1 Billion users, the social giant released it’s first ever brand commercial.  The video, created by genius marketing firm Wieden + Kennedy,  compares “chairs” to Facebook.

I had to take advantage of this opportunity and decided to write and direct a parody of Facebook’s first ever commercial.  After it was uploaded, it quickly went viral and began to be featured on websites including TechCrunch, Digg, Funny or Die, Complex, CNET, MSN, and many more from around the world.

Matt Burns, a senior editor at TechCrunch, stated about the parody, “It’s ironically more accurate and insightful than the original.”
